Accademia Nazionale di Medicina (AccMed) is a non-profit scientific association that has been involved in the training and updating of healthcare professionals since 1991. In 1994 it was recognized by the Ministry of Health as an 'institution suitable for providing technical-scientific consultancy regarding the updating and information of doctors on drugs', while in 1995 the Ministry of Education, University and Research recognized AccMed’s legal personality. AccMed is National CME Provider No. 31, founding member of the European Federation of Medical Academies (FEAM), represents Italy in the health and medicine section of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP ), which brings together 149 academies from all over the world, and is a partner of the Unitelma Sapienza online university.
Sections
Accademia Nazionale di Medicina is structured in Specialist Sections. The Members and Experts who make up the Sections can contribute to the organisation's activity both by promoting new initiatives and by participating in existing initiatives. Each Specialist Section is made up of a maximum of five Ordinary Members and Associate Members. The number of experts is not limited. The Associate Members comprise:
- a delegate from the most representative scientific societies in the sector
- a representative of the relevant sector within the university environment
- a representative of the relevant sector within the national healthcare system
Sections that do not correspond to specializations defined by EU legislation can be configured and structured with specific rules, which must be submitted and approved by the AccMed Board of Directors.
